52 Week Project – Week 22 – Playtime – Raleigh Child Photography

Thursday, May 31st, 2012

This week’s theme – Playtime.

One of his favorite things to do is to “read” Toy Story on the IPad. He is constantly asking for Woody and Buzz. This week, while on vacation, he was listening to his favorite story so I had to grab the camera for a quick picture.

Our Everyday – Weeks 9 & 10 – Wake Forest Child Photography

Sunday, May 20th, 2012

The day before my birthday, my sweet boy and I headed out to pick some strawberries. It was super quiet in the strawberry field, and he just had a blast running and picking strawberries. t was surprised that he only ate one strawberry. He had more fun looking for strawberries and screaming his favorite phrase at the moment, “There it is!”  Vollmer Farm is such a great place, and we had to eat some of their delicious ice cream before we left.

And of course, on my birthday, we had to make this roasted strawberry, brie and chocolate grilled cheese with our strawberries. We borrowed The Little Mouse, The Red Ripe Strawberry, and the Big Hungry Bear from a friend which was a big hit with Owen.

On Mother’s Day Eve we headed out to North Hills and Owen just loved running around and playing. See more mother’s day pictures here.

52 Week Project – Week 16 – Things that Grow – Wake Forest Child Photographer

Thursday, April 19th, 2012

This week’s theme – Things that Grow.

If you have been to my house, you know that I have a really small yard. Super small and yet I have a love of gardening. I admit, I have not planted like I used to since Owen was born. The image above is the view from my screened in porch – the porch screen is the texture on the image. These climbing roses were planted about four years ago and have grown so much.  I love them but I wished they bloomed a little bit longer.

Lavender

These are called Belinda’s Dream and I ordered them a few years ago from Witherspoon Rose Culture. I absolutely love them – they are beautiful in vases.

The best thing about my Irises is that they are reblooming. They bloom in the spring and the fall. I ordered these online from Schreiner’s Iris Gardens. The one on the left is Queen Dorothy, which is my grandmother’s name. She also had a love of gardening. The iris on the right is called Immortality.

Things that will be blooming soon – my peonies and my hydrangeas.

My little gardening helpers.Boy, do they love each other!

52 Week Project – Week 15 – Sacrifice – Raleigh Child Photography

Wednesday, April 18th, 2012

Last week’s theme was Sacrifice. I am sorry I am a little late in posting – it has been a very busy few weeks. So you might see two 52 week project posts this week. To celebrate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus, we made Resurrection Rolls. You can find the recipe here.

First, we gathered our supplies together. You need marshmallows, butter, cinnamon, sugar, and crescent rolls. The marshmallow represents Jesus and his life – pure and without sin.

Then you dip the marshmallow in butter and roll it around in the sugar and cinnamon mix. The butter represents the embalming oil and the cinnamon and sugar represents the spices.

Next, you wrap the marshmallow in a crescent roll triangle which represents the wrapping of Jesus’ body. Putting them in the oven represents putting Jesus in the tomb.

He is not here: He has risen just as He said! Matthew 28:6.

Our Everyday – Weeks 3 and 4 – Newborn Photographer, Wake Forest, N.C.

Sunday, April 8th, 2012

What have we been up to?

Well, we took a trip to the beach. Owen loves the sand but is still a little scared of the ocean.

He loves his shoes.

This picture of Owen and Michael is so one of my favorites.

These are his facial expressions right now – oh I just love his little personality.

While we were at the beach, we went to Ripley’s Aquarium at Myrtle Beach.  It was super fun and Owen loved picking up the horseshoe crabs and watching all the sharks float over our heads.

We have loved the Spring weather. It’s just been so beautiful.

And of course, in the past two weeks, we took lots of Easter pictures, made a bunch of Easter crafts and participated in an Easter Egg Hunt. I only took 300 pictures in his Easter outfit because he has never worn a tie before and I just thought it was too cute.

While we were taking these, a bunch of helicopters flew over. The first picture is Owen saying, “Where’d they go? Helicopters?” which he repeated for several hours and was the first thing he said the next morning when he woke up. Adorable.

For one of our Easter Crafts, we made these super cute cards, filled Easter Eggs, and mailed them to the grandparents and great grandparents. When they opened their mailbox, they found an easter egg with a little tiny label on it filled with candy and a cute little card. I love this website and I got the idea for the card here and the idea to mail the eggs here. We also made Graham Cracker Peep Houses which can be seen here.

How delicious were these Bird’s Nest Cookies? Owen and Christopher gobbled them up as soon as we put the tray down. See more pictures here.

Once he figured out there were snacks in the eggs, he just sat and ate and ate and ate :)

This is our everyday.

See more of our everyday here.

52 Week Project – Week 14 – Foolin’ Around – Wake Forest Child Photography

Friday, April 6th, 2012

We’ve had our Maltese puppy Charlie for five years. I found out about a family that had Maltese puppies in Goldsboro and I probably called three times a day to see if anyone had bought the little boy puppy. Little did I know one day right after I called Michael was there to pick up Charlie. He surprised me later that day with the sweetest little puppy that fit in the palm of your hand. He was so tiny! This week we had another maltese at our house. Jasper is Michael’s brother’s dog and he came to stay for the week while they were on vacation. Guess who was sooo happy to have a new friend to play with.

Owen had a blast playing with Jasper and Charlie this week. The puppies mostly spent the week hiding just outside Owen’s reach.

Sweet Shot Tuesday. A favorite image from the week.

I love the perspective of this image from this week. Such a sweet boy, and it is a rare moment when he is still. He has so much energy and loves to run, run, run.

52 Week Project – Week 13 – Details – Family Photographer, Raleigh, N.C.

Friday, March 30th, 2012

This week’s theme – Details.

I love holidays – decorating for holidays, eating holiday food, holiday parties, and definitely holiday crafts. So with Easter approaching, we have been working on many different crafts to celebrate – like these Graham Cracker Peep Houses.

He looks at his little project everyday and says, “chickie, chickies!”  So when we heard about Aunt Wendy’s new chickens, we had to go see some real “Chickie, chickies.”

Owen became fast buddies with the little chickie,

This is him saying, “Mommy! Chickie, Chickie!”      He went into the hen house and picked some real eggs with Aunt Wendy – Wow, they are beautiful!

These are Aunt Wendy’s goats. And as she pointed out to me, details can be very important. See the ears of the goat on the left. If your ears look like that goat, you are going to be raised for milk. If you have the ears like the goat on the right, well, that means you are going to be raised for meat. That one detail makes a big difference.

Oh, and you can’t leave Aunt Wendy’s without trying out her tree swing. Amazing!

9 Months of Adorable – Baby Photographer, Raleigh, N.C.

Monday, March 26th, 2012

Sydney is such a glowing baby! You can tell this little one knows just how loved she is. Happy, bubbly, and all about her Mommy and Daddy! I can’t believe she is already 9 months.  She is so beautiful and I love how these pictures capture her happy little personality and what a treasure she is to her parents.
