Spring Mini Sessions – Greensboro Family Photography

Friday, May 18th, 2012

This was another picture playdate organized by my friend Allison of ALM Designs. (She just designed Owen’s 2nd birthday shirt and I am so excited to get it! She has a sneak peak of his birthday shirt on her Facebook page!) The mini sessions were a lot of fun and the weather held out until the last minute of our last session! Then, it started to rain! Allison brought a super cute tricycle that was a big hit with all of the little ones! We took these at Hagan-Stone Park in Pleasant Garden. (Send me an e-mail if you’re interested in hosting a portrait playdate – mini session pricing and the hostess gets a discount – rebeccakellerphotography@gmail.com) Mini sessions are shorter than a regular session (around 30 minutes) and include 5-7 or more pictures of your little one.

52 Week Project – Week 19 – Still Life – Wake Forest Newborn Photography

Friday, May 11th, 2012

This week’s theme – Still Life

Taking a still life with a toddler and little puppy around is almost impossible. I love this picture because Charlie, our little maltese is in the background and the puppy toy is being pulled by Owen. The pots are still but the background is definitely not. The pots are our Mother’s Day gift for Owen’s grandmothers and great grandmothers.

I didn’t get too many pictures of this project. Painting with a toddler is pretty funny. He was covered in paint in about two seconds and so was I! I just kept laughing and then he would laugh and he just kept on painting. The pots turned out really cute, and I’m super excited to give them to the grandmothers.

Happy Family – Greensboro Family Photography

Wednesday, April 25th, 2012

I really enjoyed taking pictures of this sweet family! All four little ones were just too sweet. We took these at the Tanger Family Bicentennial Garden in Greensboro. There is a beautiful creek right near the entrance that was a hit with the kids! They had so much fun splashing and playing. We definitely got some smiles!

Our Everyday – Weeks 5 & 6 – Raleigh Family Photography

Sunday, April 22nd, 2012

I have watched as other children snuggle and love their stuffed animals, blankets, etc. I have always thought it was so super cute and sweet. Every time I loaded up the crib with stuffed animals, Owen threw each and everyone overboard. Blankets? They were thrown overboard, too. When I went to go get him from his nap, there was always a scattered mess of blankets and stuffed animals. Before he could sleep, he needed to throw everything out.

Until last week.

One day last week, he emerged from the playroom. victorious, with bear in arm, running and screaming and giggling BEAR! Look what treasure he had found! I am sure he has walked by that bear 300 times and never thought twice about it. But for some reason, that day, this bear was going to be his best friend. From then on, he has needed to know where bear is, has snuggled bear every nap time and every night, and has not thrown bear overboard once.

Here are a few snapshots of Owen and Bear on the playground. (Yes, Bear had to go with him.)

One of his favorite books has been Find the Puppy where he has to search and find the puppy on each page. He has just loved that book so much and is usually screaming, “Oh puppy!” whenever he finds him. So this week, I had to get him Find the Teddy, too. We headed out with our new book and Bear on a little teddy bear picnic with some friends at E Carroll Joyner Park in Wake Forest.

One of my April goals is to make some fun food for Owen. These frozen yogurt dots were delicious! They took about two minutes to make and then 30 minutes to freeze! See more pictures here.

Another fun treat this week? A Locopop! We tried out Joe Van Loco on Creedmoor which is an espresso bar + locopops = awesome! The picture on the right is one of my first instagrams on my new phone!

Yesterday we got to celebrate our friend Ben‘s 2nd birthday at Pullen Park! Of course, Owen was super excited about the Choo Choo the moment we got there! He also really loves the boats!

He was still a little uncertain of the carousel but stayed on a little bit longer this time. Okay, one last shot of my little gardening buddy.

Our Everyday – Weeks 3 and 4 – Newborn Photographer, Wake Forest, N.C.

Sunday, April 8th, 2012

What have we been up to?

Well, we took a trip to the beach. Owen loves the sand but is still a little scared of the ocean.

He loves his shoes.

This picture of Owen and Michael is so one of my favorites.

These are his facial expressions right now – oh I just love his little personality.

While we were at the beach, we went to Ripley’s Aquarium at Myrtle Beach.  It was super fun and Owen loved picking up the horseshoe crabs and watching all the sharks float over our heads.

We have loved the Spring weather. It’s just been so beautiful.

And of course, in the past two weeks, we took lots of Easter pictures, made a bunch of Easter crafts and participated in an Easter Egg Hunt. I only took 300 pictures in his Easter outfit because he has never worn a tie before and I just thought it was too cute.

While we were taking these, a bunch of helicopters flew over. The first picture is Owen saying, “Where’d they go? Helicopters?” which he repeated for several hours and was the first thing he said the next morning when he woke up. Adorable.

For one of our Easter Crafts, we made these super cute cards, filled Easter Eggs, and mailed them to the grandparents and great grandparents. When they opened their mailbox, they found an easter egg with a little tiny label on it filled with candy and a cute little card. I love this website and I got the idea for the card here and the idea to mail the eggs here. We also made Graham Cracker Peep Houses which can be seen here.

How delicious were these Bird’s Nest Cookies? Owen and Christopher gobbled them up as soon as we put the tray down. See more pictures here.

Once he figured out there were snacks in the eggs, he just sat and ate and ate and ate :)

This is our everyday.

April Goals – Wake Forest Family Photograpy

Tuesday, April 3rd, 2012

I can’t believe it’s already April! Wow! March just flew by.

Looking at my goals for March:

*Pullen Park was pretty much amazing. I loved it. Owen loved it. It was awesome. He was so excited about the choo choo. He wasn’t quite so sure about the carousel, but the boats were a big hit! We ended the trip with a locopop. I had never had one before, and I highly recommend the strawberry – delicious!

*The Jillian Michaels dvd goal went pretty well. Man, those are tough.

*Taxes have been dropped off and filed! Woo-hoo!

*Okay, I am still working on the images I want to print and display. I have a few great ideas that I love from Pinterest that is on my to do list once again for this month.

Goals for April:

*Make some fun food for Owen.

*Try to have more craft days. I need to be organized and plan and prepare more projects. Owen just loves painting and really enjoys sitting on the porch in the afternoon and painting or working on crafts.

*Be more encouraging. Find some ways to encourage others around me.

*Clean up the garden and plant some pretty flowers (after April 11th)

What are your goals for April?

52 Week Project – Week 13 – Details – Family Photographer, Raleigh, N.C.

Friday, March 30th, 2012

This week’s theme – Details.

I love holidays – decorating for holidays, eating holiday food, holiday parties, and definitely holiday crafts. So with Easter approaching, we have been working on many different crafts to celebrate – like these Graham Cracker Peep Houses.

He looks at his little project everyday and says, “chickie, chickies!”  So when we heard about Aunt Wendy’s new chickens, we had to go see some real “Chickie, chickies.”

Owen became fast buddies with the little chickie,

This is him saying, “Mommy! Chickie, Chickie!”      He went into the hen house and picked some real eggs with Aunt Wendy – Wow, they are beautiful!

These are Aunt Wendy’s goats. And as she pointed out to me, details can be very important. See the ears of the goat on the left. If your ears look like that goat, you are going to be raised for milk. If you have the ears like the goat on the right, well, that means you are going to be raised for meat. That one detail makes a big difference.

Oh, and you can’t leave Aunt Wendy’s without trying out her tree swing. Amazing!

March Goals – Newborn Photography, Raleigh, N.C.

Friday, March 2nd, 2012

Looking at my February goals:

*Making Valentine’s for the grandparents was super fun. Owen was really thinking about each one as he made them. I love his little thinking face. Click here to see the pictures!

*Everyday Moments. Oh, I have loved this one! I think this should be a year round goal. Not just for Owen but during my sessions. I LOVE everyday moments. Here are a few sessions of Owen this month that were just everyday.

A Great Leap

Cabin Fever

This One’s For the Grandparents – this one has some portraits, too. I just love him on the swings!

Sweet Shot Tuesday

*Take more pictures with me in them. This month I had a whole session of just Owen and I. I still haven’t finished editing and posting them yet simply because I feel like I should be editing my client’s pictures first. Here is just one fun shot from the session. I have loved aviators forever.

*Still haven’t decided on if I want all of the forms/contracts online. I am still thinking about this one.

*Yes – I still need to organize the home office. I need to plan a trip to IKEA this month so I’m sure that will help.

*Cook 3 – 4 times a week. Wow – this has been really fun. Some favorite recipes from this month include

Crockpot Bbq Beer Chicken – This takes five minutes to make and I love Sweet Baby Ray’s!

Brown Butter Parmesan Chicken Linguine – I made this twice in one week. Seriously – that good!

Sausage Crepes – I love crepes! We made these a few times!

Can you tell I love the blog, How Sweet It is? (Two out of the three recipes are from this blog) There are so many on her blog that I haven’t tried yet. The Greek Yogurt Pancakes look awesome!

My goals for February went well -I still need to work on organizing my home office!

Goals for March:

*Take Owen to Pullen Park to ride the carousel

*Attempt some Jillian Michaels dvds- at least once or twice a week

*Drop off all information to my CPA for 2011 taxes.

*Print more pictures and display them in our house. I really want a 20 x 30 Mpix canvas but that may have to wait a month or two. It’s a big decision, too, so I’m going to have to figure out which picture to print.

*Organize my closet.

*Try one new recipe from the Pioneer Woman.

Okay, now it’s time to think of a fun St. Patrick’s Day craft for this month!

52 week project – week 7 – True Love – family photographer, raleigh, n.c.

Friday, February 17th, 2012

So this week’s theme is True Love.  Michael and I have a little saying where if one of us does something small and thoughtful, we always say, “That’s true love.” True love isn’t necessarily grand gestures or huge elaborate gifts. It’s the little things, every day, without being asked.

Probably my all-time favorite – when he gets up early in the morning and goes to get me my favorite iced coffee before I wake up. That’s true love.

Do I even have to explain this one? What girl doesn’t LOVE chocolate?!? Another favorite – when he brings home something chocolate as a surprise. That’s true love.

When he brings me flowers, when he changes a diaper, when he folds laundry, that’ s true love. Truly blessed and so thankful for such a sweet husband.
