My hope is that your newborn portraits are a sweet memory. That is one thing that I love about having sessions on location – that you will look back in twenty years and remember your house, your backyard – where you lived during this season of your life. I love when the lighting is beautiful for portraits in the nursery because it will be redecorated in a year or so but you have the portraits to remember this sweet time. Remember these two? They love their baby sister so much and just loved hugging and kissing her during the session.

A Sweet Memory – Raleigh Durham Newborn Photographer
Wednesday, May 30th, 2012Claire Elizabeth – Raleigh Newborn Photographer
Friday, April 20th, 2012Little Claire is just beautiful and so loved. I know her big brothers are going to take such good care of her. They love her so much and wanted to kiss and hug her and show her off while I was there. Little Claire was just so content and happy during the session. Such a beautiful baby!
There are so many that I love from this session but this one is definitely a favorite.

Our Everyday – Weeks 3 and 4 – Newborn Photographer, Wake Forest, N.C.
Sunday, April 8th, 2012What have we been up to?
Well, we took a trip to the beach. Owen loves the sand but is still a little scared of the ocean.
He loves his shoes.
This picture of Owen and Michael is so one of my favorites.
These are his facial expressions right now – oh I just love his little personality.
While we were at the beach, we went to Ripley’s Aquarium at Myrtle Beach. It was super fun and Owen loved picking up the horseshoe crabs and watching all the sharks float over our heads.
We have loved the Spring weather. It’s just been so beautiful.
And of course, in the past two weeks, we took lots of Easter pictures, made a bunch of Easter crafts and participated in an Easter Egg Hunt. I only took 300 pictures in his Easter outfit because he has never worn a tie before and I just thought it was too cute.
While we were taking these, a bunch of helicopters flew over. The first picture is Owen saying, “Where’d they go? Helicopters?” which he repeated for several hours and was the first thing he said the next morning when he woke up. Adorable.
For one of our Easter Crafts, we made these super cute cards, filled Easter Eggs, and mailed them to the grandparents and great grandparents. When they opened their mailbox, they found an easter egg with a little tiny label on it filled with candy and a cute little card. I love this website and I got the idea for the card here and the idea to mail the eggs here. We also made Graham Cracker Peep Houses which can be seen here.
How delicious were these Bird’s Nest Cookies? Owen and Christopher gobbled them up as soon as we put the tray down. See more pictures here.
Once he figured out there were snacks in the eggs, he just sat and ate and ate and ate
This is our everyday.

Simply Beautiful – Raleigh Durham Newborn Portraits
Thursday, March 22nd, 2012Wow. This little one is simply beautiful. I absolutely love, love, love this session. When I arrive at your house for a newborn session, I look for the room in the house with the best available natural light. The room in this house turned out to be one of the most gorgeous rooms in the house. I think I oohed and ahhed over the room the entire session. I love using your house as a backdrop – it makes the session more styled and personal, which I love. I had such a hard time narrowing this session to 41 pictures. She is breathtaking and has a proud brother and sister!
Yes. She’s Gorgeous. – Newborn Photographer, Raleigh Durham, N.C.
Tuesday, March 6th, 2012Yes. She’s gorgeous! This little one is just stunning. Such a little sweetheart and she is just surrounded by love and family. I love the headband and hat her mom had picked out for her – just beautiful! Taking pictures of newborns is such a blessing – they are such tiny little miracles! I truly love every session! Oh – and her name, Naomi! Love!
March Goals – Newborn Photography, Raleigh, N.C.
Friday, March 2nd, 2012Looking at my February goals:
*Making Valentine’s for the grandparents was super fun. Owen was really thinking about each one as he made them. I love his little thinking face. Click here to see the pictures!
*Everyday Moments. Oh, I have loved this one! I think this should be a year round goal. Not just for Owen but during my sessions. I LOVE everyday moments. Here are a few sessions of Owen this month that were just everyday.
This One’s For the Grandparents – this one has some portraits, too. I just love him on the swings!
*Take more pictures with me in them. This month I had a whole session of just Owen and I. I still haven’t finished editing and posting them yet simply because I feel like I should be editing my client’s pictures first. Here is just one fun shot from the session. I have loved aviators forever.
*Still haven’t decided on if I want all of the forms/contracts online. I am still thinking about this one.
*Yes – I still need to organize the home office. I need to plan a trip to IKEA this month so I’m sure that will help.
*Cook 3 – 4 times a week. Wow – this has been really fun. Some favorite recipes from this month include
Crockpot Bbq Beer Chicken – This takes five minutes to make and I love Sweet Baby Ray’s!
Brown Butter Parmesan Chicken Linguine – I made this twice in one week. Seriously – that good!
Sausage Crepes – I love crepes! We made these a few times!
Can you tell I love the blog, How Sweet It is? (Two out of the three recipes are from this blog) There are so many on her blog that I haven’t tried yet. The Greek Yogurt Pancakes look awesome!
My goals for February went well -I still need to work on organizing my home office!
Goals for March:
*Take Owen to Pullen Park to ride the carousel
*Attempt some Jillian Michaels dvds- at least once or twice a week
*Drop off all information to my CPA for 2011 taxes.
*Print more pictures and display them in our house. I really want a 20 x 30 Mpix canvas but that may have to wait a month or two. It’s a big decision, too, so I’m going to have to figure out which picture to print.
*Organize my closet.
*Try one new recipe from the Pioneer Woman.
Okay, now it’s time to think of a fun St. Patrick’s Day craft for this month!
52 week project – week 7 – True Love – family photographer, raleigh, n.c.
Friday, February 17th, 2012So this week’s theme is True Love. Michael and I have a little saying where if one of us does something small and thoughtful, we always say, “That’s true love.” True love isn’t necessarily grand gestures or huge elaborate gifts. It’s the little things, every day, without being asked.
Probably my all-time favorite – when he gets up early in the morning and goes to get me my favorite iced coffee before I wake up. That’s true love.
Do I even have to explain this one? What girl doesn’t LOVE chocolate?!? Another favorite – when he brings home something chocolate as a surprise. That’s true love.
When he brings me flowers, when he changes a diaper, when he folds laundry, that’ s true love. Truly blessed and so thankful for such a sweet husband.

February Goals – Family Photography, Raleigh, N.C.
Thursday, February 2nd, 2012Looking at my goals for 2012:
*So far I have completed each week of the 52 week project. (yay!) See each week here.
*Organizing – January’s goal was to organize my office. That is still a work in progress – but the hall closet downstairs (which is huge since we don’t have a pantry in our kitchen) was organized this month
*Working on a teaching project with Owen – our next project is going to be numbers! So excited!
*Going to the gym 4-5 days a week. This is going well – except I should I should have made the goal to exercise – not just go to the gym. I love running outside – pushing Owen and the BOB up big hills!
I am happy with most of my January goals – I didn’t finish all of them but I made a lot of progress and there are still a few things I would like to put on my goals for February.
So – here they are!
Goals for February:
*Make homemade Valentines with Owen and send to each of the grandparents/great grandparents.
*Try to capture more everyday moments. I like posed pictures with backgrounds but I also love everyday lifestyle pictures, and I want to take more of those.
I love this simple everyday moment on the playground.
* Take more pictures with me in them. That is tough for me since I am always taking the pictures. I need to use my self timer more. I am not going to get perfect focus, but at least I will have some more pictures with my sweet boy.
* Continue to work on getting all of my contracts and forms online.
* Continue to work on organizing the home office
* Cook 3 – 4 times a week. I have really been trying to be diligent about meal planning so we can eat out less. My friend Mary has been helping me with recipes, ideas, and suggestions. Now, homemade snickers bars don’t qualify as dinner, but they were delicious. The recipe can be found here.
52 Week Project – Week 5 – Shadows – Raleigh Durham Newborn Photography
Wednesday, February 1st, 2012This week’s theme - Shadows.
When I was pregnant and found out we were having a little boy, I dreamed about walking and holding his hand.
It is the best. He is such a little dream come true.(Yes I took this picture while walking down the street holding his hand) I love this 52 week project because I am taking pictures with different perspectives and it is fun. For the rest of the year, one of my goals is going to be to capture more of the everyday, and I realized this project is really helping me catch some of those moments. I treasure these sweet everyday moments.
His sweet silhouette playing on the driveway with one of his favorite toys. Such a sweet little face.
Oh, I just love him.
