Fresh Market Nutrition – Raleigh Commercial Photography

May 18th, 2012

Last week, I headed out to the Raleigh Downtown Farmer’s Market on Fayetteville Street to get some updated pictures for Fresh Market Nutrition.  Brooke offers pantry makeovers, cooking classes, grocery shopping, meal prep, and individualized health coaching. Check our her website or facebook for more information about her holistic approach to health and wellness.

Several vendors at the farmer’s market let me take pictures of their beautiful produce. These were from Hilltop Farms.

Carrots, Broccoli, and Sugar Snaps from Cedar Rock Farm.

Beautiful strawberries from Ball Berries and Produce

Delicious baked goods from Huntington Kitchen

Al kinds of yummy vegetables from Wild Onion Farms.

Pork. Chicken, Duck, Turkey, Chicken Eggs, and Duck Eggs from Homestead Harvest Farm.

The farmer’s market was a super cool place with live music and a variety of food. We will definitely be back!

Spring Mini Sessions – Greensboro Family Photography

May 18th, 2012

This was another picture playdate organized by my friend Allison of ALM Designs. (She just designed Owen’s 2nd birthday shirt and I am so excited to get it! She has a sneak peak of his birthday shirt on her Facebook page!) The mini sessions were a lot of fun and the weather held out until the last minute of our last session! Then, it started to rain! Allison brought a super cute tricycle that was a big hit with all of the little ones! We took these at Hagan-Stone Park in Pleasant Garden. (Send me an e-mail if you’re interested in hosting a portrait playdate – mini session pricing and the hostess gets a discount – rebeccakellerphotography@gmail.com) Mini sessions are shorter than a regular session (around 30 minutes) and include 5-7 or more pictures of your little one.

52 Week Project – Week 20 – Mothers – Raleigh Family Photography

May 13th, 2012

This week’s theme – Mothers.

One of my favorite times of the day is when Owen wakes up from his nap. He is so happy and just loves playing with his letters puzzle and his puppy. This puzzle is one of his absolutely favorite toys – he knows every letter of the alphabet and is content identifying the letters and their sounds and then figuring out the puzzle.  I have been meaning to capture this sweet time in the afternoon and finally picked up the camera. I am almost never in pictures with Owen simply because it is usually just me and him when I am taking pictures. Thankful that Michael captured this sweet moment. Truly a special Mother’s day gift – a memory with my son.

Don’t forget to capture your favorite times of the day – and don’t forget to get in the picture every once in a while! Happy Mother’s Day!

52 Week Project – Week 19 – Still Life – Wake Forest Newborn Photography

May 11th, 2012

This week’s theme – Still Life

Taking a still life with a toddler and little puppy around is almost impossible. I love this picture because Charlie, our little maltese is in the background and the puppy toy is being pulled by Owen. The pots are still but the background is definitely not. The pots are our Mother’s Day gift for Owen’s grandmothers and great grandmothers.

I didn’t get too many pictures of this project. Painting with a toddler is pretty funny. He was covered in paint in about two seconds and so was I! I just kept laughing and then he would laugh and he just kept on painting. The pots turned out really cute, and I’m super excited to give them to the grandmothers.

Bokeh by Sea – 2012 Photographers Retreat

May 11th, 2012

The first ever Bokeh By Sea Photographers Retreat was a huge success!

We started our retreat at the Yacht-Basin Provision Company in Holden Beach. You have got to try the crab cakes – amazing! Saturday morning and evening were filled with two different sessions.

We also spent time in downtown Wilmington – a few more pictures taken with my phone. We stopped at the Dixie Grill for brunch, and the fried green tomatoes and biscuits were delicious!

One of our last stops of the trip was Cappuccino By the Sea. Highly recommend the espresso ice cubes!

It was a fantastic retreat! Looking forward to the next Bokeh By Sea!

Surprise – Maternity Photographer, Raleigh, N.C.

May 8th, 2012

This sweet family is waiting to find out if they are having a boy or a girl! Only a few more weeks left and Noah will find out if he is going to have a little brother or sister. This session was at Pullen Park, and the light was just beautiful. Noah just loved the boats and the carousel. It is such fun place, and we ended our session with a locopop from Pullen Place.

Our Everyday – Weeks 7 & 8 – Durham Child Photography

May 7th, 2012

So I have to admit, I have not taken as many pictures the last two weeks as I wanted to. We even took a trip to Ohio and my camera stayed in my bag the whole time!

To celebrate Owen’s buddy Christopher’s second birthday, we took the boys to Ox and Rabbit Soda and Sundries in Durham. Not only can you get an old fashioned egg cream but the shop it just too cute and packed with gifts for the home and little ones. The boys weren’t quite big enough to reach the counter yet but they still enjoyed their treat!

Owen had so much fun and was an absolute mess by the time we left! We will definitely be back!

52 Week Project – Week 18 – Fiesta or Siesta – Raleigh Family Photography

May 4th, 2012

This week’s theme – Fiesta or Siesta.

It always melts my heart the way Owen just loves his daddy. When he wakes up in the morning, he’s asking for his daddy. If he hears a song that Michael sings to him, he starts screaming, “Oh, daddy!” If the garage door opens, he runs to the back door just screaming. Lately, at nap time, I ask him which book he wants to read and he always picks up My Daddy and Me. So sweet and he loves reading it before going to sleep. Remember bear? He loves reading it, too.

May Goals – Raleigh Durham Newborn Photography

May 1st, 2012

One of my goals for April was to make some fun food for Owen. He loved this ice cream grilled cheese, and I thought it was just too cute.(Find out how to make it here. See more examples of food we made here and here.)

I am really excited about May – it’s a month of celebrations. In only a week, it will be my birthday and then at the end of the month is the first anniversary of the business. I started Rebecca Keller Photography in May of 2011. It has been such a great year – I have learned so much and I have met so many great new friends. Still trying to think of a great way to celebrate the first year. I’m also working on two big projects this month – so one of my goals is to finish those projects.

Goals for May:

* Take Owen to the Museum of Life and Science

* Finish the two new projects I’m working on

* Continue to work on framing/hanging pictures in my house.

* Finish planning something for Owen’s 2nd birthday. (yes, he will be two in June)

Savory Spice Shop – Raleigh Commercial Photography

April 30th, 2012

If you have not been to the Savory Spice Shop in Raleigh, it is somewhere you definitely need to check out, especially if you love to cook. The shop is wall to wall spices and there are all kinds of speciality blends and gift sets to choose from. Michael and I LOVE paella so I was excited to find out that they sell saffron. There are BBQ spices, herbs, salts, cocoas, and much more. The shop is located in Lafayette Village at Honeycutt Road and Falls of the Neuse Road.

Another great thing about the spice shop is that they sell cookbooks and there are also recipes scattered around the store. You can find the owner’s curried chicken salad recipe right next to the Medium Yellow Curry Powder.

While Owen and I were there, we picked up some lavender so that we could make Lavender Cookies.

The cookies were a big hit! We will be back to the Savory Spice Shop soon for some more recipes and spices!
